History: Psyllium has a long history of use throughout the world. Psyllium has been used in traditional medicine in India and finds mention in ancient Indian Ayurveda.
Our modern lack in fiber content as most of it is removed from cereals including wheat flour by hulling, refining and peeling of fruit and vegetable before consuming them. Medical science has concluded that fiber content of our food plays an important role in the natural functioning of the body. Lack of dietary fiber leads to various health disorders. PSylLIum is a natural herb which provides sufficient dietary fiber. It does not contain any additives or preservatives
Pharmacological Action: PSylLIum Husk is purely dietary fiber, composed mostly of hemicelluloses. They act as a sponge in the intestinal tract swelling as they absorb water bowels. The soft and bulky mars is formed which parses through colon faster and passé out smoothly & early Psyllium is cooling, soothing and softening substance and prevents acidity.
Psyllium seeds are snow in Nov/Dec and harvesting is done by March/April. There is a minimum use of chemicals by way of fertilizers, insecticide or pesticide as plant does not attract bacteria. It is odourless and bland. Psyllium seeds are brought are to market yard & from there to process house. Seeds are cleaned and all physical impurities are removed before processing psyllium seeds.
Psyllium is also known as plantago ovata or Isapghula.
Psyllium seeds are processed and finally we get Psyllium Husk. Psyllium Husk when pulverized we get powder of 40 or 60 or higher mesh size. |
